Craig Hoy, Executive Director and Publishing Editor

 

Craig Hoy is formerly a managing director of Dods and the former publisher of Public Affairs News and The House Magazine. He is the founding director of PublicAffairsAsia and has worked for organisations including the BBC, The Times and Investment Week. A former Downing Street lobby correspondent, he has over a decade of specialist publishing and editorial experience in the public affairs, communications and government arenas in Europe and Asia. He was educated at Edinburgh University and London’s City University. Craig was an inaugural member of the Young Leaders, a group of European, Asian and American under-35s who met to discuss geo-politics after the 9:11 tragedy. Contact Craig

 

 

Mark O’Brien, Vice President (Asia Pacific) and Commercial Publisher

 

Mark O’Brien is a senior public affairs practitioner who has worked for the timber industry and the international express delivery sector, representing multinationals such as Jewsons, Travis Perkins, TNT and FedEx.  As chairman of the global wood awards and a board member of the wood.for.good campaign, he acquired a wide ranging insight into corporate communications as well as developing major environmental and CSR projects in the UK, Malaysia and Indonesia.  Previously he worked in the UK parliament and for the Red Cross. Lionel Zetter FCIPR: Vice President

 

Lionel Zetter is a former president of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and a former chairman of the Government Affairs Group. He was educated in Africa and the Far East, before going to the University of Sussex to read African and Asian Studies. He is a former managing director of Parliamentary Monitoring Services Ltd and Political Wizard Ltd, and a former deputy chairman of Dods Parliamentary Communications Ltd. He has written a book on political campaigning, and is currently writing a book on lobbying. Lionel was named the public affairs personality of the year in the 2008 Public Affairs News awards. Alan Vandermolen: Alan Vandermolen is the president of Edelman in Asia and a global figure in the public affairs, communications and public relations industries. He is a frequent speaker on issues including trust in governmental institutions and the role of the internet in modern communications.
 
Andy Roby: Andy Roby is a former UK government official, who was CSR adviser to the Timber Trade Federation. He now acts as an EU adviser promoting sustainable forestry in Indonesia.
 
Hua Foley: Hua Foley is managing director of public relations and public affairs company Upstream Asia in Beijing. A former journalist, she worked in a think tank to the Chinese premier and in the private sector, before taking her current role.
 
Jean Liu: Jean Liu is government relations director at global technology provider EDS in China. Previously with Burson Marsteller in Hong Kong, she is based in Shanghai and is responsible for the company’s public affairs activity.
 
Jeff Blount: Jeff Blount is partner-in-charge at Fulbright and Jaworski LLP in Hong Kong. An international transactional lawyer, he began his career at Fulbright & Jaworski in 1983.
 
Jitender Bhargava: Jitender Bhargava is executive director, corporate communications of Air India. He joined Air India in 1989 after 12 years as head of corporate communications at Coal India Ltd.
 
John Russell: John Russell is executive vice president of Weber Shandwick’s public affairs arm Powell Tate in the Asia Pacific region. He speaks regularly on industry trends and developments.
 
Karen Paxton: Karen Paxton is chief executive of The Public Affairs Recruitment Company. She provides recruitment advice and training for public affairs officers in public sector and private sector roles in Australia.
 
Liam Benham: Liam Benham is vice president of government relations (Asia, Middle East and Africa) with Ford. He started his career in public affairs in London, and is also a governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand.
 
Mark Michelson: Mark Michelson is vice chairman of the global public affairs company ACPO Worldwide in Asia. Originally from the USA, he is currently seconded as deputy director general of Invest Hong Kong.
 
Richard Barton: Richard Barton is CEO (Asia, excluding Japan) at Gavin Anderson. He was chief executive of Gavin Anderson’s office in Singapore, moving to Asia from the firm’s London office in early 2000.
 
Stephen Forshaw: Stephen Forshaw is the vice president public affairs for Singapore Airlines. He joined the company in June 2000, becoming the Airline’s principal external spokesman and head of the Public Affairs Department in 2004.
 
Sukyi Yau: Sukyi Yau is Co Managing Director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson for Greater China and an adviser to the Hong Kong government. Before joining the consultancy, Yau was one of the territory's most prominent finance journalists covering banking, regulatory and government news.
 
Tom Spencer: Tom Spencer is Executive Director of the European Centre for Public Affairs and an expert on Brussels-related lobbying. A former MEP he is also a lecturer at Brunel University.
 
Yuan Haiying: Yuan Haiying is president of Yuan Associates, the Beijing-based government relations consultancy. He has over 30 years experience in the Chinese government, including senior positions in Washington DC.
