Weber Shandwick has announced the promotion of Jye Smith to vice president, digital, Asia Pacific.
Smith’s new role brings him from Sydney to Hong Kong, as he joins the firm’s growing Centre of Digital Excellence in the region. He reports to Jon Wade, head of digital, Asia Pacific.
Smith comes to the role after leading Weber Shandwick’s digital strategy and social media engagement for major brands across a wide range of industries in Australia. He is a frequent speaker on all things digital and was included in B&T’s ‘Top 30 Under 30’ last year.
Wade said: “Jye’s promotion is a result of the great success he’s had bringing our clients and our teams forward in the digital space, particularly in terms of reputation management. As a result, digital has truly become an integrated element of our day-to-day client operations across each and every team in Australia.”
As vice president, digital, Smith will work with clients and staff across the firm’s 18 offices in the region, tapping into the broader digital environment, including a focus on online issues and crisis management.
He will also continue to work with the team and clients in Australia, which will bring him back to Sydney on a regular basis.
Weber Shandwick’s Centre of Digital Excellence in Hong Kong supports local offices by serving as a digital strategy and creative hub for the entire region.
The hub includes the firm’s Digital Content Studio, which provides quick turn-around, high-quality digital content, including video, infographics and web development production capabilities for Weber Shandwick’s clients’ social and digital initiatives.
