Weber Shandwick appoints new Bangkok general manager

Weber Shandwick has announced the appointment of Joel Weiden as general manager of the firm’s Bangkok office.

Weiden joins the firm from the Singapore office of Nielsen Holdings N.V., where he served as director of global communications.

Baxter Jolly, vice chairman of Weber Shandwick, Asia Pacific, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joel to our team in Bangkok. His background covers a wide range of communications disciplines in both the U.S. and Asia, which will prove invaluable in generating results for our clients.”

He added that in addition to his wealth of experience “Joel brings with him a demonstrated commitment to mentoring and training”.”I greatly look forward to working with him, and I’m confident in his ability to build on our already strong foundation in Thailand,” he said.

Weiden arrives at Weber Shandwick with nearly 20 years of experience. He has driven financial and crisis communications, litigation support and issues management at firms such as Gavin Anderson & Company, and also led his own communications consultancy from 2005 to 2010.

His work has involved a wide range of industries, with clients including airlines, automotive suppliers, healthcare companies and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
