Bell Pottinger has announced the appointment of a former senior British diplomat, Mark Canning, to bolster the company’s growth in Asia and counsel clients targeting markets in the region.
Canning joins Bell Pottinger as a Senior Advisor after a distinguished career over four decades in the British diplomatic service that included postings to Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and most recently as Britain’s Permanent Representative to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
His work has involved advising companies on how to successfully negotiate challenging political, regulatory and commercial environments, including across energy, mining and manufacturing industries.
He will work closely with the company’s senior management team in Asia, led by the regional Chairman, Piers Pottinger, and the Asia CEO, Shih-Huei Ang.
In a press release from Bell Pottinger, Mark Canning said: “Asia is undoubtedly the world’s most dynamic and stimulating region for doing business today. I look forward to supporting the continued growth of Bell Pottinger in Asia and advising clients on how to develop the multitude of opportunities that exist in the region.”
