Ruder Finn makes top China appointment


Ruder Finn Asia has appointed Michael Zhao as senior counsel based in Beijing.

Zhao will work closely with teams across the Asia network to develop strategic corporate communications programmes for Ruder Finn’s current and future clients. He has more than three decades of experience in the energy industry and has worked in both multinational and national energy companies.

He has experience of the full spectrum of corporate communications, ranging from stakeholder engagement to issue management and crisis communications, government relations to corporate social responsibility.

The company has served many industry brands such as ArcelorMittal, Bosch, Boeing, Carlsberg, CITIC Bank, DHL, Founder Group, Hawker Beechcraft, L’Oreal, Marsh, Michelin, Visa and Volkswagen.

Zhao joins Ruder Finn from British Petroleum (BP), where he served as the director of corporate communications with regional responsibilities for press, corporate branding, executive communications, internal and external communications. He previously worked in the top national energy company China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), with key responsibilities in international affairs.
