Ruder Finn appoints new digital chief for China

- -

Ruder Finn has hired Alan Ma to head its digital arm, Ruder Finn Innovation Studios (RFI), an award-winning, full-service digital agency to service the growing social media needs in the region.

Ma will oversee RFI offices in Beijing and Shanghai as well as being involved in regional collaboration with the rest of the Ruder Finn network.

She will be responsible for developing digital marketing and communication solutions with a combination of technology and content and a strong focus on creative story telling.

Ma will also be responsible for attracting and nurturing the right talents by making RFI China a strong platform for young consultants to develop their careers.

She will report to Elan Shou, Executive VP and Managing Director of Ruder Finn Greater China.

Ma is a public relations and communications veteran with 15-years of experience, both agency and in-house, across all marketing communications functions in a range of industries, specializing in strategic marketing and communication, stakeholder engagement, digital communication and CSR.

Ma began her PR career in the Technology Practice at Weber Shandwick and Edelman, then moved in-house as the Marketing Manager for both the British Standards Institution Greater China and Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility Business, Greater China, where she was responsible for the organization’s overall marketing communication and business development strategy.

This opened the door for her to take on a role as Marketing Head at King and Wood Mallesons, one of the world’s leading law firms, where she was in charge of business development as well as marketing communications.

Subsequently, Ma decided to return to the agency world, and rejoined Edelman as the Technology Practice Head in 2014.

Elan Shou, Executive VP and Managing Director of Ruder Finn Greater China, said: “Alan is a passionate professional with proven business success and outstanding team leadership skills.

She will lead the RFI teams and work closely with me to build RFI China to the next level.“

Alan Ma said: “I am very excited to be part of the RFI team. With the digital revolution, the marketing landscape is changing and evolving at a rapid pace, affecting all sectors along the supply chain. The digitalization of business is changing how we work with clients to develop effective integrated marketing communications to a new type of consumer. ”
