In February, LEGO, Hume Brophy, MediaCorp, Ninemer PA, Creation India, Eon The Stakeholder Relations Firm and FleishmanHillard all engaged in major hires and appointments.

Ninemer PR hires Pamela Tor Das to lead PA push

Singapore based Ninemer PR has appointed Pamela Tor Das as a director to develop its corporate and public affairs practice.

Prior to her appointment, Tor Das headed the corporate and public affairs practice group at Golin where she led accounts such as Changi Airport Group, Economic Development Board, McDonald’s, Ministry of Communication and Information, Morgan Stanley and NTUC FairPrice. Her career first started at H+K Strategies where she led client work in healthcare and public affairs sectors.

Ninemer PR, which was established in 2010, works on a broad spectrum of B2C and B2B clients and has carved out a niche in MICE communications and Destination/Event Marketing.

Creation India announces New Head

Shashikant Someshwar was appointed head of Creation India; a global communications agency and part of the family of best-in-class engagement brands anchored by Weber Shandwick.

Someshwar replaces Dilip Yadav and will lead a team of more than 30 consultants working across a broad portfolio of accounts. Based in New Delhi and will be tasked with further accelerating the dynamic growth of Creation’s business across the country including current hubs in Mumbai and Bangalore, as well as the capital.

In a career spanning over sixteen years, Someshwar has led many successful, high-profile communications campaigns across a diverse blue-chip client set. He was previously vice president at Perfect Relations and has deep experience of developing and managing high growth operations.

FleishmanHillard appoints digital engagement lead

FleishmanHillard has announced the hiring of Michel Mommejat as regional managing director of digital engagement initiatives for Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, Mommejat reports to Lynne Anne Davis, Asia Pacific president.

Mommejat has 20 years of creative agency experience, pioneering integrated marketing solutions where brands and technology converge in digital, mobile, social, CRM, shopper marketing and ecommerce.

Among his responsibilities at FleishmanHillard, Mommejat will drive key client engagements as the regional innovation lead for FH ContentWorks, a first of its kind global content marketing offering customized to fit the unique communications needs of organizations while ensuring they stay true to their brands.

Joining FleishmanHillard marks a return to Omnicom Group for Mommejat, who held leadership roles for agency TEQUILA of TBWA Group in Paris, London and Tokyo. He helped establish the Japan operations for TEQUILA as well as shopper marketing specialty firm Integer Group. Since then, he held regional responsibilities at Wunderman and mostly recently, AdPeople Worldwide.

Mommejat will work closely with Mickie French in her role as FleishmanHillard regional managing director of strategic integration and planning.

EON announces duo of appointments to boost PA capabilities

EON The Stakeholder Relations Firm has announced two new executive appointments in line with the communications agency’s thrust to further strengthen its operations in the public affairs space.

Malyn Molina, who previously served as EON’s AVP for Strategic Planning and Business Development, took on her new role as Managing Director for Engage, EON’s Public Affairs and Government Relations arm.

Molina brings her expertise in strategy development and communications to Engage as she leads the enhancement of the business unit’s capabilities in critical communication interventions and stakeholder relations.

A new addition to the EON team is Richard Arboleda who was appointed as Managing Director for the company’s Consumer and Corporate PR unit. The communications veteran has almost two decades of agency and client leadership experience, working with clients across the FMCG, pharmaceutical, technology, real estate, and automotive industries. Prior to joining EON, Arboleda headed a local public relations firm and held leadership communications positions in Wyeth and Samsung.

Eon specialises in deploying communication programmes that help organisations build mutually beneficial trust-based relationships with its stakeholders in the Philippines.

Burtt departs McKinsey

Former Australian diplomat Penny Burtt is to leave McKinsey to take up a new role with a leading US corporation.

Burtt served as Director of Public Affairs and External Relations, Asia McKinsey&Company, based in Singapore, joining the firm in 2011.

Previously, she was a senior diplomat with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, serving as Deputy High Commissioner at the Australian High Commission in Singapore, and previously represented Australia at a senior level in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and at the United Nations in Geneva and New York.

She also serves on the PublicAffairsAsia Gold Standard Awards judging panel.

Reidy joins Hume Brophy as Asian MD

Leading communications professional Martin Reidy is to join Hume Brophy as Managing Director of its Asia business.

He joins the international government, media and investor relations firm with a brief to expand the company’s Asian business and will be based in the Singapore office.
Conall McDevitt, Chief Executive Officer of Hume Brophy, said: “Martin’s hire is a key element of our plans to build on our success to date to expand our offer both in our existing markets and globally.  At present we have a strong presence in Brussels, Dublin, London, Paris and an established affiliate network covering New York and across Europe. We see Martin using his extensive experience of corporate communications and financial public relations in Asia to significantly grow our presence in the region.”

Reidy, who was previously Head of FTI’s Beijing office, speaks Chinese, and has over a decade of experience in the region, said: “Hume Brophy have one of the strongest track records in the markets where they have a presence and are clearly on track for even greater success. Across all of the major markets in Asia there is a growing need for more nuanced, informed, and business-driven communications counsel, and this is where Hume Brophy excels. Alvin Lee joins Lego to lead External Relations

Alvin Lee has been appointed as Director, External Relations, Asia at LEGO Group. He was previously Head of Communications, Asia Pacific, Microsoft Devices after switching over from Nokia. Prior to this he was Executive Director, International Relations and Public Policy, Asia Pacific at Time Warner.

MediaCorp announces new Digital Head

Shane Mitchell was appointed the inaugural incumbent of Head, Digital at MediaCorp. Effecrive from March 3, 2015, Mitchell shall be responsible for driving a unified digital strategy across MediaCorp’s online and mobile properties, commercialising business lines, improving user experience and working on strategic partnerships.

Mitchell was previously CEO of Sydney-based Reddo Media Services, which specialises in app development and marketing, as well as providing commercial and branded content strategy for businesses, and worked for Haymarket Media Group and YAHOO! in Sydney and in the UK.
