A global strategic communications consultancy firm with 13 offices worldwide is looking for a Managing Director to set up it’s Hong Kong operation. This will be the firm’s 5th office in Asia, expanding its footprint into Greater China.
This firm is one of the global leaders in financial & corporate communications, public affairs, crisis & issues management, as well as change communications, with deep client relationships and broad networks in industry, finance, politics and media. A single partnership, based on one global P&L, allows them to work collaboratively across geographies, practices and client teams. Once appointed, the MD will be tasked with quickly building a team and setting up the Hong Kong operation. Simultaneously, the MD will utilize their strong network in Hong Kong to build the firm’s brand name and generate business. In addition, they will work with other teams globally on cross- border client work with existing global clients, while also generating referrals for other offices.
To be successful in this role, the MD will have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in corporate communications (agency, in-house or journalism). A deep knowledge of the Hong Kong market and ideally Mainland China, with a minimum of 5 years working and living in Hong Kong is essential with at least some time spent in-house either on secondment or in a permanent role. Strong people management, previous budget/P&L, and cross-border/international experience is a must. Fluency in English essential and Chinese language skills highly desirable.
