Jean-Michel Dumont secures top award for agency professional excellence

- -

Jean-Michel Dumont, Chairman of Ruder Finn Asia, has secured the coveted Prospect Gold Standard Award for Professional Excellence in the consultancy sphere.

Jean-Michel has been based in Greater China since 1986 when he opened and developed the Beijing operation of Interasia, the first international PR agency to enter China, and celebrated his 28th year in public relations in Asia-Pacific and his 14th year at Ruder Finn Asia in 2014.

Few executives working in Asia today have the experience Jean-Michel has accumulated. His track record in Asia brings insight and understanding, having led award-winning work for Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Procter & Gamble, Novartis and Audi. He personally managed the award-winning “Challenge Bibendum” global Michelin green mobility event in China. The Audi “Green

Driving” and “Driving Dream” projects are still recognised by UNICEF as the best Public Private Partnerships in China. Over the past decade and a half, “JMD” has transformed Ruder Finn into a clear China market leader. He joined the firm in Shanghai in 2001, when it had just 10 people, two offices, three clients and revenues of US$550,000. It is now ranked #2 among international firms in terms of revenue (as of December 2014).

Extending this vision and track record to the rest of Asia, which he took over in 2008, Jean-Michel has continued building Ruder Finn into one of the most successful, respected consultancies in Asia- Pacific.

As at 31 December 2014, Ruder Finn Asia employed 330 people in 13 offices with revenues 40 times higher than when Jean-Michel took over in 2001. Profit levels, always in double-digits under his leadership, increased by a record 28% in 2014.

Ruder Finn today works with 170 clients regionally and saw 2014 revenues increase by 15% (over 2013) to US$22 million. The firm’s revenues are forecast to exceed the US$25 million mark in 2015 and profits to grow by more than 40% (YOY 2014/2015).

SHORTLISTED: Ava Lawler, Managing Director, Weber Shandwick Australia

Ava has played a pivotal role in reinvigorating the agency to achieve outstanding results since her 2013 appointment, resulting a tenfold increase in staff retention to 90%, 81% client retention and 100% top tier clients, a 64% profit increase and a record 10 market awards in 2014 alone.

SHORTLISTED: John Russell, Managing Director, North Head

John’s 25 years experience in Washington, Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East and Australia has enabled North Head to stand out as a credible consultant in a crowded industry with a strong focus on social issues like sustainability. John and North Head is now positioned as a senior advisor to several significant business and trade forums in China.
