Industry gears-up for 2013 Gold Standard Awards

- -

PublicAffairsAsia has officially launched the fifth Gold Standard Awards programme which is set to recognise achievement in public affairs and corporate communications across the Asia pacific region.

The awards showcase corporate, not-for-profit and governmental excellence in areas ranging from stakeholder management, corporate citizenship and public private partnerships.

Among other unique categories are awards for NGO relations, country and trade promotion, business communications, diplomatic engagement and the use of the internet for social good.

Nominations across 15 categories open on August 1 and entries should be lodged by September 27.

Following a rigorous judging process, the awards will be presented at a gala cocktail reception held in Hong Kong on Thursday, December 5.

Last year saw a record number of award entries, with over 200 nominations being lodged by MNCs, communications consultancies, NGOs and governmental organisations.

Over 50 judges possessing a diverse range of corporate communications and public affairs experience will oversee the judging process this year.

The panel is led by senior industry figure Elizabeth Hernandez, the Vice President of Government Relations (Asia Pacific and Japan) with Hewlett Packard, and comprises nearly 20 new judges from corporations and the not-for-profit sectors.

Launched in 2009, The Gold Standard Awards have grown in strength to become the leading awards programme for strategic communications and public affairs professionals in Asia Pacific.

Among the categories this year is a new award for Policy-Maker of the Year which will recognise innovative consultative policymaking by a government minister, department or regulator.

Previous winners in the programme include leading corporations such as Nestle, Procter & Gamble, GSK, eBay and FleishmanHillard. Other organisations honoured through the programme include Save The Children, The US Embassies in Japan, Vietnam and Singapore and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

Commenting on the 2013 launch, Mark O’Brien, Vice President of PublicAffairsAsia, said: “This programme uniquely offers business, the not for profit sector and government the opportunity to highlight the successful work they do with their stakeholders.  In a matter of five years the awards become an established part of the Asia Pacific corporate and governmental landscape. ”

Sponsors of the 2013 programme include 21st Century Fox, Maybank, HP, eBay, Edelman, Yahoo!, Food Industry Asia, Vero PR, Eon Consulting, Prospect Resourcing and FleishmanHillard.
