Hernandez launches 2014 Gold Standard Awards

PublicAffairsAsia has formally launched the 2014 Gold Standard Awards ahead of the opening of nominations on August 1.

For a second year, the awards will be chaired by Elizabeth Hernandez, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific. PublicAffairsAsia has also announced that Min Qin becomes Vice-Chairman and Chairman Elect, taking over the chairmanship after the awards ceremony in December.

Said Hernandez: “Once again The Gold Standard Awards will recognise the vitally important public affairs work being conducted by corporations, government agencies and the not-for-profit sectors in Asia Pacific.  I look forward to working with our judges to identify those which reach The Gold Standard and to promoting their achievements.”

New judges include Brian Cronkite, Ford lead with Burson Marsteller, Georgette Tan, Group Head, Communications for the Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa region at MasterCard, Stephen Thomas is Group Head, Corporate Communications at AIA Group and David McCarthy, founding partner of McCarthy Associates.

Now in their sixth year the awards are unique in the Asia Pacific region, recognising excellence in stakeholder engagement, corporate citizenship, public policy and communications. New categories include The Gold Standard Award for Government Relations and a widening of several existing categories.
