The American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China (AmCham-China) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that represents US companies and individuals doing business in China. AmCham-China’s membership comprises more than 2,600 individuals from over 1,200 companies. The organization has its main office in Beijing, with chapters in Tianjin and Central China (Wuhan). AmCham-China’s mission is to provide government advocacy, information, networking opportunities and business support services to American companies in China, helping them succeed. Each year, AmCham-China holds more than 150 events, ranging from industry-focused panel discussions and high-profile speakers to business networking events.
Corporate social responsibility is another top priority for AmCham-China and its members. One example is the chamber’s annual Charity Ball, raising money for worthwhile causes. AmCham-China has also been active in responding when the community in China faces crisis. This includes recent natural disasters, such as the crippling snowstorms in southern China in 2009. In response to the devastating Sichuan earthquake, the organization and its member companies committed more than US $100 million in money, goods and services to help with recovery and relief efforts.
